History 

Intention

St Patrick’s curriculum is based on the broad outlines set out by the National Curriculum, with the depth of coverage been planned with our faith and children at the centre. A range of places and societies are used to give the children a broad and engaging curriculum. Our curriculum has a large breadth and secures important knowledge for the further learning.  Implementation

Our curriculum is our focus, ensuring that we are thinking about what is being taught at each stage. Children will revisit concepts and terms to ensure the children have a clear understanding. History is taught in the second half of a term, with weekly lesson to aid learning through regular revisiting. Knowledge organisers reviewed frequently at school and home, to support children with new vocabulary and highlight the core knowledge that the children must know. Children will learn about sources through using meaning full examples to support the children’s understanding. 

 

Impact 

Our Early Years is the foundation for our History curriculum.  Children are ready to construct their own historical arguments and accounts.  The children are equipped to ask questions and make suggestions about where to find the evidence to answer the question
